Which orthodontics treatment is best for me?

The orthodontics treatment that’s best suited for you depends on the severity of your tooth misalignment and your treatment preferences.

Your dentist discusses your oral health history, symptoms, and your lifestyle habits. They look at your mouth and take dental X-rays to establish the most appropriate orthodontics solution. You often have the option of choosing braces or clear aligners.

What happens during orthodontics care?

The first step of treatment is when your dentist scans your mouth. That helps them personalize your treatment and allows a dental lab to create custom-fitted aligners if they’re included in your treatment plan.

If you choose braces, your dentist bonds metal brackets to your teeth and attaches wires to the brackets. They tighten the wires periodically as your teeth move into their desired position.

During Invisalign treatment, you wear clear plastic aligners over the top of your teeth and take them out to eat and brush. After a week or two, as directed by your dentist, simply switch to the next set of aligners in your series until you complete treatment.

Orthodontics treatment may last as little as six months, up to a year, or longer in some cases. Afterward, you can enjoy your new, beautiful, perfect smile.
